  • Singer Jay Chou opens up about suffering from panic attacks during his Carnival World Tour

In concert, Jay Chou is seen as a glittering superstar shining before tens of thousands of adoring fans.

But the Taiwanese Mandopop singer recently revealed he suffered from panic attacks which prevented him from going on stage.

In an Instagram post on Oct 12 marking the end of his Carnival World Tour, which ran from 2019 to 2025, the 46-year-old wrote: “During the tour, there were actually some things I couldn’t control, like panic attacks that (almost) prevented me from going on stage, when my voice was not in good condition, and when I was under a lot of pressure.”

He said he thought of cancelling some shows due to his condition, but eventually refrained from doing so. He added: “Thinking about everyone who might have waited years for a concert… I could only push forward.”

Chou has not opened up about his panic attacks in the past, although he did wonder if a health scare he faced in 2022 was due to a panic attack or an issue with his heart.

Back then, he had uploaded on social media a photo of an intravenous drip in his arm, with the caption revealing he had “breathing problems and numbness of the arm”. However, it seemed to be a one-time incident and the original post was subsequently deleted.

Chou reportedly once suffered from ankylosing spondylitis, a genetic arthritic condition that causes inflammation in the joints and ligaments in the spine. But this condition improved after his friend, Taiwanese personal trainer Will Liu, encouraged him to exercise more.

  • Running Man’s Yang Se-chan opens up about 12-year battle with thyroid cancer

South Korean comedian Yang Se-chan may bring the laughs on variety shows like Running Man (2010 to present), but unknown to many viewers, he has been quietly battling cancer for over a decade.

The 38-year-old opened up about his battle with thyroid cancer in the Oct 16 episode of South Korean variety show Problem Child In House (2018 to present).

In a preview released on Oct 15, Yang shared his experience after South Korean actor Jin Tae-hyun, one of the guests on the show, revealed that he has recovered completely from thyroid cancer and is no longer on medication.

“I’m still on medication,” Yang said after Jin made his revelation.

Yang recalled being unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer 12 years ago during a routine health screening with his fellow comedians.

He was preparing for rehearsals of comedy show Comedy Big League (2011 to present) when he received the call about his diagnosis, leaving him completely stunned.

With a wry smile, Yang said: “There was no time to be sad. My partners even joked and used their own way to console me.”

He added that his most prominent symptom at that time was extreme fatigue. “I used to sleep for 10 hours straight and still wake up yawning. That was my body’s warning signal.”

  • Tips on selecting a childcare centre

A childcare centre is often a child’s first experience outside the home, marking the beginning of their journey into the wider world.

This environment shapes early growth, development and health, making the selection of a high-quality centre crucial.

It is a place for young children to learn, explore and build foundational social skills.

Here, children develop cognitive abilities, physical skills, problem-solving and emotional resilience that will serve them in school and beyond.

Additionally, childcare centres support parents by ensuring their child’s needs are met in a safe, structured environment while they work or attend to other responsibilities.

Many centres today provide daily reports to keep parents updated on their child’s activities and well-being, so that parents can stay connected to their child’s progress and feel assured of their comfort and development.

  • Giant corn maze in California lets visitors get lost for fun

The owners of a giant corn maze in northern California, United States – once crowned the world’s largest – want visitors to remember that there is fun in getting lost.

“It is confusing. It’s exciting, and in a world of GPS and constant signage, you always know where you are, where you’re going,” said Tayler Cooley, whose family owns Cool Patch Pumpkins.

“When you’re in the corn, everything looks the same until you pop up on a bridge and you’re like, ‘Oh wait, I’m all the way over here. I thought I was over there’.”

The pumpkin patch and corn maze along Interstate 80 between Sacramento and San Francisco are open once again for the fall season through Halloween. Back in 2007 and again in 2014, Cool Patch Pumpkins earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest corn maze.

  • Reviving this African game reserve meant transporting hundreds of wild animals

Fifty years ago, Banhine National Park in Mozambiquewas a wildlife haven, teeming with herds of giraffe, buffalo and antelope. Then, it was stripped nearly bare by decades of civil warand unchecked poaching.

But a project is underway to restore Banhine to its former glory. Fences have been rebuilt and roads fixed. Finally, the trickiest part: bringing in the animals.

Private conservationists working with the government of Mozambique have moved nearly 400 animals – zebra, wildebeest and several species of antelope – by truck to Banhine. It’s an attempt to restart a game reserve that is part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a series of reserves in Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe that form a wildlife corridor and a key conservation area.

The animals that will restock Banhine came from the Maputo National Park, itself a success story after a similar rehabilitation 15 years ago.

  • Body inclusivity fades as fashion runways return to a thinner ideal

After a short interlude of pushing “body inclusivity” and plus-sized models to the fore, the fashion industry has returned to promoting thinness as a beauty ideal.

Data published this week from Vogue Business, based on runway shows in the most recent Spring/Summer 2026 fashion weeks, corroborated what models with regular or larger body sizes have been reporting: their work is drying up.

Of the 9,038 looks analysed in New York, London, Milan and Paris, 97.1 percent featured models judged to be very small (US 0-4, UK 4-8 or 32-36 in France), according to data from Vogue Business in its size inclusivity report.

Regular-sized models represented only 2.0 percent of the body types seen, compared to just 0.9 percent for “plus-size” models (US 14+, UK 18+, France 44+), the report showed.

“There are fewer and fewer plus-size models on the runways,” Aude Perceval, a booker at Plus Agency, a pioneer in plus-size modeling in France, said.
