Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) is working closely with the government to finalise the proposed ‘cash for clunkers’ scheme to scrap old cars above 20 years old.
Perodua managing director Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad expects to announce a firm plan for the RM4,000 cash assistance programme to replace ageing vehicles by the middle of next year.
Perodua, the country’s number one car company by sales, deemed it a commendable initiative that aligns with its safety and sustainability goals.
“We fully support the RM4,000 monthly cash assistance initiative. It’s a very commendable initiative by the government,” Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said today.
